Steam Deck QA
Make sure your game holds up on Steam Deck.
Controller mapping, UI scaling and performance checks for handheld PC play, built into the QA round you already run with us.
Why Steam Deck needs its own pass
Steam Deck play is controller-first and handheld. A menu built for mouse and keyboard, or text sized for a monitor, can become unusable on a 7-inch screen.
We check how your game holds up under those conditions: control scheme, readability and performance, as part of the PC testing we already do.
What we check for handheld play
Controller-first testing
Every action gets checked with a controller: menus, rebinding, and anything that assumes a mouse and keyboard.
UI and text scaling
We flag text, HUD elements and menus that become hard to read on a smaller handheld screen.
Performance awareness
We note anything that could strain a handheld's battery or thermals, like uncapped frame rates or heavy background processes.
Proton compatibility notes
We flag behaviour that looks specific to running through Proton, so you know what to check before committing to full handheld support.
